The First Lesson: The Pentatonic Scale
In order to get down into this blog, we are going to study about the Pentatonic Scale. The Pentatonic Scale is one of the most useful and common scales used for soloing. The name “Pentatonic” comes from the Greek “Penta” meaning 5 and “Tonic” meaning tone. So as you can notice this scale makes use of just five notes, all the other notes are just repeated an octave higher. The pentatonic scale has two variations, the Major pentatonic and the Minor pentatonic. Every scale has its own sound, for example the Major has a country or country rock flavor, while the Minor has a dark sound. This makes the pentatonic scale one the most useful scales when learning the art of soloing.
It is important for you to know the pattern of this scale. If you want to be a lead guitarrist, you can create your solos based on this scale, as I have stated before. You can go all over the fretboard using the same pattern creating a wide variety of sound wich will sound outstanding; this scale is used in all music styles and your songs will be better if they have more than just chords. So learn the patterns, all of them. It is a huge challenge but it worths the try! Knowing the patterns will increase your playing skills.

About me and my Blog
My name is Marco Halen Auditore. I am a student (a prospective teacher in fact). I am studying English pedagogy and I am on my third year and it has been an incredibly time sharing with my classmates and teachers. So as you can read, what I really love is to communicate talking in English. However, my studies are not all that consume my time; I spend my time playing the guitar too. When I am playing my guitar I feel completely invigorated and I use that energy to focus on my studies.
To talk and playing an instrument (such as the guitar) are both ways of communication, on the one hand we find spoken language and on the other hand musical language. So this is what you are going to find here: Instructions given in English in order to learn face melting guitar techniques and comments about the English language. So, at the same time you are practicing your English listening skills (through advices given in my videos) you will learn how to play the guitar. But that is not all, because playing the guitar will improve your personality and you will feel more secure about yourself. You will develop your talents! Read my blog, learn, practice and communicate with your peers through language and music.
